Call for Speakers

WordCamp Dayton brings together designers, developers, bloggers, small business owners, entrepreneurs, and educators from all across Ohio. What can you share with this community? We’re looking to build an awesome program which reflects the diversity of the greater Dayton WordPress community, and we want you to be a part of it!

Details

  1. We’re looking for talks that are immediately relevant (or directly applicable) to casual WordPress users, experienced developers or anywhere between.
  2. Talks will be allotted 45 minutes. You can use that time however you like (30 minutes for talking and 15 minutes for questions, 25 for talking and 20 for hands on, etc.).
  3. Speakers will be offered free admission to WordCamp Dayton2015 and get to attend a speaker dinner, but we can not reimburse travel, lodging, or other expenses.
  4. As a disclaimer, all sessions will be video taped. You will need to sign and return the A/V form to nathan.driver@gmail.com. All submissions without a signed disclaimer will not be approved.
  5. You will be notified when a decision about your submission is made.

Agreement among WordCamp Organizers, Speakers, Sponsors, and Volunteers

  1. I agree that WordCamps are meant to benefit the local WordPress community through live events and the broader WordPress community through the sharing of online video and other materials.
  2. I agree that a WordCamp is a casual, locally- and volunteer-organized event, focused on WordPress and reflecting the local WordPress community it represents.
  3. By officially associating myself with WordCamp as a (speaker / sponsor / volunteer / organizer), I understand that in this role I represent the WordPress project and its values.
  4. I understand that the values of the WordPress project include:
    1. no discrimination on the basis of economic or social status, race, color, ethnic origin, national origin, creed, religion, political belief, sex, sexual orientation, marital status, age, or disability
    2. no incitement to violence or promotion of hate
    3. no spammers
    4. no jerks
    5. respect the WordPress trademark
    6. embrace the WordPress license; If distributing WordPress-derivative works (themes, plugins, WP distros), any person or business officially associated with WordCamp should give their users the same freedoms that WordPress itself provides: 100% GPL or compatible, the same guidelines we follow on WordPress.org.
    7. don’t promote companies or people that distribute WordPress derivative works which aren’t 100% GPL compatible
  5. I agree that WordCamps are not-for-profit events, organized with budget and funding transparency.
  6. I agree that WordCamps should be accessible to as many people as possible, regardless of financial status.
